Little Chef, Littleton
The Little Chef at Littleton first opened its doors sometime between 1972 and 1976. It was housed in a converted bungalow with a distinctive pyramid-shaped roof and large windows. As a standalone restaurant with no accompanying facilities, the Little Chef was strategically located next to the sizable population center of Chester, along a single-lane road for easy access. Despite its somewhat isolated setting, the restaurant proved reasonably successful and busy.
Interestingly, the entrance totem sign appeared slightly different and shorter than the typical Little Chef branding, displaying only the logo without additional details.
However, the restaurant's fortunes took a turn in 2004 when the Permira Group of Canada decided to sell off 131 Little Chef sites across the UK, including the Littleton location. Fortunately, in 2006, The People's Restaurant Group stepped in and reopened the Littleton Little Chef. Given that the restaurant was still fully furnished, the new owners simply needed to refresh the interior with a fresh coat of paint to get the establishment back up and running.
Sadly, this revival was short-lived. Just four years after its 2006 reopening, the Little Chef at Littleton closed once again, this time permanently. The site remained derelict until its eventual demolition in 2015.
Please excuse the poor quality of my photographs, this location was visited very early in my Urbex journey. The majority of photos taken have been deemed poor to publish.
